Santiago Barrera

Flutist in Nyon

Santiago Barrera is an Argentinian flutist and pianist based in the Nyon area. Passionate about music from the age of nine, he began the flute and piano at the Juan José Castro Conservatory in Buenos Aires, before joining a youth orchestra.

In 2018 he was admitted to the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Teatro Colón, where he trained for four years: orchestral practice first, then a soloist specialization.

In 2023 several European academies — including La Côte Flûte Festival, close by — opened the way to Switzerland. He received scholarships, notably from the Lyra Foundation for Rheinau, and worked with teachers including Michel Bellavance and Félix Renggli.

He is now pursuing a bachelor's degree at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, in the class of Sébastian Jacot. Last year he studied at the HEM with Jacques Zoon. Alongside his studies he teaches as a pedagogical assistant at L'Atelier F (Gland) and offers lessons in a small studio in Nyon, as well as at home.
